SEQUIM — The third annual Back-2-School 2-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk is Saturday.

The run on the track at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., will begin at 9 a.m., with registration opening at 8 a.m.

The entry fee is $5 for youths, $10 for 18 and older, and $25 maximum for families of five or more living in the same residence.

Children 10 and younger must be accompanied by parents or guardians.

“We’re hoping lots of families will bring their kids and come out to the track for this event,” said Stuart Marcy, a high school teacher serving as chairman of the run/walk.

Both the start and finish line are on the track and the entire course on schoolgrounds.

Obstacle courses include Flat Stanley Limbo, Hot Lava Pit, Precipitation Pass, Homework Hill, Think Time and Commando Crawl.

Door prizes will be given away after the race is completed.

Age group awards will be presented for grades kindergarten through second, third through fifth, sixth through eighth, ninth through 12th, and adults.

This event is sponsored by the Sequim School District, Sequim Education Foundation, the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula and Anytime Fitness.

Teachers and school district staffers are manning the obstacles and helping with the event.

Checks should be made out to the Sequim Education Foundation, or cash is acceptable.

Proceeds will go toward funding Sequim Education Foundation teacher classroom grants.
