PORT ANGELES — Live music, a dunk tank and, of course, many, many cars will highlight the 17th annual Ruddell Cruise-In today.
Ruddell Auto Mall, 110 S. Golf Course Road, and Ruddell Hyundai, next door at 1718 E. First St., are hosting the car show, which will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Registration for show cars begins at 3:30 p.m.
Spectator admission and auto registration is free.
“We expect this year’s show to be another terrific event with hundreds of cars,” dealer Howie Ruddell said.
“We are usually full within an hour of opening the gate and expect the same again this year.”
As has been the tradition, live music will set the tone for afternoon and evening activities.
There will be a benefit dunk tank, with proceeds going to support local charities.
Food will be offered for a nominal charge.
Parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Trophies awarded
Trophies will be awarded for a variety of categories, including Best of Show, People’s Choice and Farthest Distance Traveled.
Due to the limited number of spaces, project cars (those not completed) and post-1983 cars are not allowed.
Members from nearly a dozen different car clubs are expected, and individuals are welcome as well.
Co-hosting the event is the Old Timers car club from Bremerton.
“We expect cars from across Western Washington — from Bremerton, Tacoma, Puyallup, up to Bellingham — as well as some folks coming down from Canada,” said Old Timers Chairman Jerry Scott.
“This is a great event and a big one, too, and with some good weather, we are expecting this year’s Cruise-In to set a new attendance record,” he added.
The Cruise-In was started 17 years ago by the late H. “Mac” Ruddell with Scott’s help.
After success in the initial years, the car club and the dealerships forged a long-term relationship, and the event has grown every year since its inception.
Ruddell Auto Mall and Ruddell Hyundai are open Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be reached at 800-284-6822.
