SEATTLE — The dry frigid air covering Washington should moderate by the end of the week when warmer, moist air arrives.
Snow is forecast Friday evening for parts of Western Washington.
On Tuesday, the National Weather Service’s Friday forecast was for a chance of snow in Sequim and areas east, including Port Townsend, Port Hadlock, Port Ludlow, Chimacum and Quilcene.
Rain was forecast for Port Angeles and the West End.
The forecaster at the National Weather Service office in Seattle says it’s too soon to estimate amounts.
Where snow falls, it is expected to give way to rain over the weekend in Western Washington.
The chance of snow continues through the weekend in colder Eastern Washington.
The low temperature in Port Angeles was 19 degrees at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, 17 degrees at nearly 7 a.m. in Forks and 13 degrees at 5 a.m. at Quilcene.
The lowest temperature recorded overnight in Port Townsend was 25 degrees.
