Voting is underway in our online Lavender Photo Contest.

Voting is easy. Go to http://pdn.upickem.net/engine/Welcome.aspx?contestid=138335.

You can also go to www.peninsuladailynews.com and click on the “Lavender Photo Contest” button in the middle of the webpage (below “Hot Links” and just left of “Friends to Follow”).

Once you’re there, sign in! (Or click the “register now” button and follow the simple steps to get signed in, then vote.)

You can vote once per day until noon Friday, Aug. 8.

The three winning photos (determined by total online votes) will earn prizes from our Sequim-area sponsors — Lost Mountain Lavender, Martha Lane Lavender, Graysmarsh Farm, Lavender Connection and Purple Haze Lavender.

Prizes include gift certificates, a gift basket and a lavender diffuser.

Kyle Zimmerman, co-owner of The Hub at Front and Lincoln streets in downtown Port Angeles, adds a new coat of paint on Wednesday to an advertising sign on the back of his building that was uncovered during the demolition of a derelict building that once hid the sign from view. Zimmerman said The Hub, formerly Mathews Glass and Howe's Garage before that, is being converted to an artist's workspace and entertainment venue with an opening set for late May or early June.
