PORT TOWNSEND–Two people were injured in a Monday afternoon car crash on state Highway 104 about three miles west of the Hood Canal Bridge when a driver attempted to pass another car on the right as the other was attempting a right turn.
At about 3:50 p.m. Geraldine Fowler, 59, of Port Ludlow was in the process of turning right onto Teal Lake Road when a car driven by Mary Degutes, 74, of Sequim began passing on the right shoulder, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol.
The vehicles collided in the intersection and the car driven by Degutes, a 2000 Lexus, came to rest on the westbound shoulder.
The car driven by Fowler, a 1992 Chrysler New Yorker, came to rest west of the intersection straddling eastbound and westbound lanes.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Degutes was cited for unsafe passing on the right.
Both Degutes and her passenger, Susan Degutes, 41, of Novato, Calif., were taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Town-send with minor injuries.
Fowler was uninjured.
All three were wearing safety belts at the time of the accident, the State Patrol said.
