UPDATED — Port Townsend man in Seattle hospital after four-car wreck on Hood Canal Bridge

SHINE — A Port Townsend man is in satisfactory condition today (Wednesday) at a Seattle hospital after a four-car wreck on the Hood Canal Bridge on Tuesday.

Sean M. O’Donnell, 29, of Port Townsend was taken to Harborview Medical Center after the 3:30 p.m. wreck. A hospital spokeswoman said he was in satisfactory condition today.

He was one of four people hurt in the wreck that closed the Hood Canal Bridge for 40 minutes.

Christopher R. McVicker, 37, of Kirkland; and two passengers in McVicker’s Honda were taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, the State Patrol said.

As of this morning, Christopher McVicker and Coll McVicker, 2, had been treated and discharged, according to a Harrison spokeswoman.

Lindsay McVicker, 34, was listed as being injured by the State Patrol, but was not registered as having been seen at Harrison or Harborview, according to hospital records.

The State Patrol said that O’Donnell, driving a red 1984 Ford F-150 westbound on state Highway 104 on the Hood Canal Bridge, crossed the centerline and struck a 2004 black Dodge pickup truck driven by Willam K. Chaney, 27, of Port Angeles, and two silver Honda CRVs — one driven by Rebecca D. Reed, 28, of Sequim and the other by McVicker — which were traveling eastbound.

The Dodge pickup came to rest in the westbound lane.

The Ford pickup and the Hondas came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Another passenger in the McVicker vehicle, Caitlin McVicker, 5, was not injured.

Reed, Chaney, and Tina M. Lee, of Port Angeles, a passenger in Chaney’s pickup, were not injured.

The roadway was fully blocked while emergency crews treated the injured people and while State Patrol troopers investigated the wreck.

There was no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the wreck, according to the State Patrol. All were wearing seat belts.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
