PORT ANGELES — Creative nonfiction and poetry writers Carmen Germain and Molly Hollenbach will share work inspired by place — from Italy to the American West — this Tuesday at Wine on the Waterfront, upstairs in The Landing mall at 115 E. Railroad Ave.
All are welcome at the 7 p.m. gathering. Admission is free.
Germain, who taught world literature and other courses at Peninsula College for more than 20 years, now spends much of the year in north-coastal British Columbia.
She also has been a visiting scholar and artist in Rome and lived in the Italian province of Umbria.
Both Germain and Hollenbach are part of the North Coast Writers group, which presents free readings at Wine on the Waterfront.
Both women participated in the Nov. 15 Reading for Hunger Relief, a Port Angeles gathering of writers to benefit local food banks.
Hollenbach has led a nomadic life, living in Seattle, Portland, Ore., and Mount Shasta, Calif., before coming to the North Olympic Peninsula.
She holds a doctorate in anthropology, has taught at Peninsula College and reported for a San Juan Islands newspaper.
She considers the time she volunteered as a park ranger at the Grand Canyon a pivotal experience and contributed an essay to a recently published anthology, On Foot: Grand Canyon Backpacking Stories (Vishnu Temple Press).
