ALL ARE WELCOME to come and watch the remarkable feat of canoeists paddling up the Strait of Juan de Fuca toward Puget Sound in the 2006 InterTribal Canoe Journey.
All this week, crews from the Quinault, Hoh, Quileute, Makah, Lower Elwha Klallam and Jamestown S”Klallam tribes will join canoeists from Canada’s First Nations in stops along the shores of the North Olympic Peninsula.
Here is a list of scheduled stops and arrival times — but they are subject to change due to weather conditions, the vigor of the crews or the death of a tribal member, Lower Elwha Klallam Vice Chairman Phil Charles said.
* Today at Hollywood Beach, Port Angeles. Expected arrival time, 3 p.m.
* Wednesday at Jamestown beach northeast of Sequim. Expected arrival time between noon and 2 p.m.
* Thursday at Point Hudson in Port Townsend. Expected arrival time between noon and 2 p.m.
* Friday at Port Gamble on the Kitsap Peninsula. Expected arrival time between noon and 2 p.m.
* Saturday at the Suquamish in Poulsbo. Expected arrival time between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
* Monday at Sand Point on Lake Washington in Seattle. Expected arrival time, noon.
