FORKS — The temporary bridge on U.S. Highway 101 at the Clallam and Jefferson county line south of Forks will open to single lane alternating traffic today.
Traffic will be controlled around the clock by a temporary traffic light.
The speed limit in the construction zone will be reduced to 25 mph.
The temporary bridge will divert traffic to allow replacement of an outdated culvert with a 175-foot bridge.
The traffic signal and reduced speed limit will remain in place until the bridge is completed in fall 2026.
The replacement of the culvert will open 8 miles of salmon habitat on May Creek, a tributary of the Bogachiel River.
