PORT TOWNSEND — Students at Port Townsend High School care about what the global future brings. It’s their future, after all.
“I’m concerned with global warming and poverty,” said Taylor Beard, a junior who belongs to Project Justice, a student organization promoting sustainable practices.
The group, supervised by high school science teacher Lois Sherwood, also includes students Nora Burnfield, Melissa McGregor, Josh Bryant, Caitlin Sullivan, Pearl McCrea and Elizabeth McKinnon.
Beard and Burnfield, accompanied by Climate Protection Campaign members and Port Townsend resident Joanna Loehr, went to City Hall last week to formally invite members to join them at 5 p.m. Jan. 30 at the high school auditorium for Global Awareness Day.
