PORT TOWNSEND — A woman swatting at a spider lost control of her car and crashed it into a power pole Sunday morning, the Washington State Patrol said.
Nettie Witheridge, 23, of Port Townsend was driving south on state Highway 19 about 4 miles south of Port Townsend when she lost control of her 2002 Jetta.
The car spun 180 degrees before crashing into the pole and landing in a ditch, the State Patrol said in a report.
The car was a total loss, the report said.
Witheridge, who was wearing a seatbelt, had neck and back injuries and was taken to Jefferson Healthcare Hospital, the report said.
She was no longer at the hospital on Sunday evening.
No charges were expected to be filed and the cause of the wreck was listed by the State Patrol as inattention.
Neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to the crash, the patrol said.
