PORT ANGELES — Discussion on issues of medical care, children’s education and faith will be presented at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday.
“We want to raise awareness of local issues and stimulate discussion and action,” said Dick Grinstad, who is one of two pastors at the church, the other being Julie Kanarr.
Three presentations are planned between 9 a.m. and noon at the church at 301 Lopez Ave., Port Angeles.
The presentations are free and open to the public.
Topics will include providing medical care to the medically underserved, keeping children in school and helping them to succeed, and how the faith community is heard at the state Legislature in Olympia.
Larry Little, executive director of Volunteers in Medicine in the Olympics, will discuss insurance issues, while Jane Pryne, superintendent of Port Angeles School District, and Randy Hill, Sequim High School assistant principal, and others will talk about school dropout rates.
The Rev. Paul Benz, director of Lutheran Public Policy Office of Washington, will discuss his role as one of two faith lobbyists at the state Legislature.
Three churches are coordinating the event: First Presbyterian Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
