SEQUIM — Odessa Nelson’s dream combined the passions of her life — music and helping people.
The 22-year-old college senior from Sequim wanted to establish music schools for children in countries around the world, especially Africa, her father, Jeff Nelson, said.
“She loved music, period,” he said.
“She saw it as a gift of God to people; that is how she held it in her heart.”
Two days before Christmas, while on vacation with her family and her fiancé’s family, Miss Nelson was killed in a skiing accident at Stevens Pass ski resort off U.S. Highway 2.
There were no witnesses to the apparent collision with a tree, said the resort’s general manager, John Gifford.
