SEQUIM — One of two men suspected of breaking into an occupied Sequim-area home and stealing guns and other items last week has turned himself into the authorities.
Kristopher Lee Boynton, 22, surrendered at the Sequim Police Department station Monday evening and was booked into Clallam County jail on suspicion of burglary, robbery and marijuana possession with intent to deliver.
A Clallam County Superior Court judge set Boynton’s bail at $10,000 during his first court appearance Tuesday, and he is scheduled to return to court at 1 p.m. Thursday to face formal charges.
The other man wanted in connection with the home invasion — identified by sheriff’s investigators as 21-year-old Joey A. Demmon — remained at large Tuesday.
Revolver, cash missing
A .22-caliber revolver and an unknown amount of cash taken from the home are still missing, Clallam County Sheriff’s Capt. Ron Cameron said.
Authorities have recovered 18 other weapons and most of the property that was stolen from the home.
Cameron said the incident did not appear to be random.
Investigators were called to the Taylor Ranch Road house around 2 a.m. Friday after a 17-year-old boy reported waking up and finding two men looting his home, according to court records and Sheriff’s Department reports.
One of the men punched the boy in the face before the pair fled in a car.
The boy loaded a shotgun and fired shots from his porch as the car drove away, according to reports.
The car later crashed near Cameron Road, and the driver and passenger fled.
