Plans for this summer’s Lavender Festival — including the business community’s involvement — will be discussed at a Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce forum tonight.
The two-hour forum, open to the public, starts at 6 p.m. in the new Olympic Theater Arts Building, 414 N. Sequim Ave.
Marny Hannan, chamber executive director, said members of the Lavender Festival Committee will attend “to listen and to learn and to educate, if needed.”
The festival, begun in 1997, features tours of area lavender farms and vendor booths at a street fair. It drew an estimated 30,000 visitors last year.
But complaints erupted when festival officials switched the street fair from West Washington Street to Fir Street three blocks north. Some merchants said the move took visitors away from downtown and hurt their sales.
