Sequim-Dungeness Chamber seeks new director

SEQUIM – It’s a tall order.

“We want someone who’s outgoing, willing to work with the City Council, and who’s familiar with nonprofits, tribal issues and small towns,” said Hattie Dixon, president of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce.

She was giving a portion of the job description for chamber executive director, a position to be vacated by Marny Hannan.

Hannan, who has led the chamber since 2000, recently announced that she would step down by the end of the year – or sooner if the board finds a successor.

At a chamber luncheon Tuesday – which Hannan didn’t attend due to illness – Dixon said the departing director “wants to work on special projects and spend more time with her husband and family.”

Hannan is married to Port of Port Angeles Commissioner Bill Hannan.

Dixon continued her list of qualifications for a new chief: “We’re looking for someone with a four-year degree or six years’ working experience,” she said, adding that the salary will range from $45,000 to $50,000 plus travel expenses.

“That’s what we can afford,” Dixon said.

“We’re also looking for someone who can find new revenue sources.”

The job opening will be advertised this month and applications accepted through mid-June.

Applicants should not send resumes or phone the chamber office until the position has been posted, Dixon said.

If potential applicants have questions, she urged them to phone her at 360-582-9595.
