SEQUIM — The couple settle easily into the chair swing on the front porch of their home just a few minutes east of downtown Sequim.
They enjoy the warmth of the summer sun as they take a break from a hectic day’s work.
Behind them, rolling fields of lavender plants form a majestic cape colored by many purple hues.
Mike and Jadyne Reichner are the royalty of lavender. And not just in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley where the herb’s popularity has taken off like a flower bud bursting through the spring soil.
They acknowledge that the success of their Purple Haze lavender farm on Bell Bottom Lane has made them the most visible lavender growers in the United States.
There’s no boast in their statement; they simply acknowledge what they’ve accomplished.
