SEQUIM — The legal fight between the city and two residents over a voter-approved initiative restricting city-issued revenue bonds is not going away anytime soon.
The City Council on Wednesday authorized City Attorney Craig Ritchie to file a cross-appeal with the state Supreme Court in the case against Paul and Marge Malkasian which stemmed from the 1996 initiative.
The case has progressed through trial and appeals courts, costing tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees between the city and the Malkasians, who would like the issue to drop.
“I do not understand why the city would want to stay in a continuous lawsuit against its people,” Marge Malkasian said Wednesday.
