Sequim’s Elk Habitat Committee has received two contributions to help start a multiyear education campaign.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation gave a $12,960 grant, while Sequim residents Elliott and Renee Leiter donated $2,000.
The education campaign will inform residents and visitors about the Sequim herd’s habitat needs and social dynamics when it’s near people.
A facts brochure is being published for visitor centers and other Sequim locations. Work has also started on brochures and displays for booths at local festivals.
The Elk Habitat Committee is a volunteer group. For information about volunteering or making a donation, writeto it at P.O. Box 1930, Sequim, WA 98382.
