SHINE — Overnight closures of the Hood Canal bridge on state Highway 104 previously scheduled for May 22-23 and May 28-31 have been canceled.
Contractor crews working for the state Department of Transportation have completed work on the shock absorbers on the south side of the bridge ahead of schedule.
While crews will continue to work on the bridge, overnight closures will not resume until Monday, June 3, at which time the bridge will close from 10 p.m. through 5 a.m. nightly through the morning of Sunday, June 9.
The seven-hour closures will allow work crews to complete the replacement worn shock absorbers on the north side of the bridge
Due to the nature of the work, the bridge will not open for any traffic, including emergency vehicles.
The overnight work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled.
