Santa coming to Port Angeles, Sequim on Saturday

Santa will come to Sequim and Port Angeles on Saturday.

Community trees will be lit, music will be performed and in Sequim, antique tractors will parade through town.

Both celebrations are part of Small Business Saturday, with specials at businesses.

In Sequim, the festivities will be at Sequim Centennial Place, on the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street, beginning at 1:15 p.m. when the Sequim City Band performs.

Santa’s arrival

They will pave the way for Santa’s arrival in a horse-drawn carriage at 2 p.m.

Music will continue with the Sequim High School Jazz Band at 2:15 p.m., Grand Olympics Chorus at 2:45 p.m., Jazz Judy Clark at 3:15 p.m., Jonathan Simonson at 3:45 p.m. and the Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus at 4:15 p.m.

A scene from GhostLight Productions’ “White Christmas” is planned for 4:30 p.m.

The tree lighting will be at 4:45 p.m.

An antique tractor parade from J.C. Penney to QFC has been organized by the Sequim Museum.

Tree lighting

In Port Angeles, the annual community Christmas tree lighting program will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain at First and Laurel streets with music by the Hamilton Elementary Choir and Lower Elwha singers and dancers.

“’Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be read.

Hot cocoa, coffee and cookies will be available. A tent over the performers’ stage will provide a dry space to wait for Santa to arrive just before 5 p.m.

He will set the 35-foot-tall community tree aglow for the first time in 2017 and then stay to pose for photographs.
