Running of the Balls to be livestreamed

Raffle tickets to be drawn

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary Club will put on the eighth annual Running of the Balls through livestreaming and include a raffle ticket drawing.

On Saturday at 12:30 p.m., Michael Jennings, U.S. Coast Guard Boatswain’s Master Chief Petty Officer, will draw the three tickets worth $2,000, $500 and $250 out of a tumbler built by former Rotary Club President Chuck Henry.

The public can watch the livestream on the Port Townsend Sunrise Rotary Facebook page.

Proceeds from the raffle will help provide picture dictionaries for all third-grade students in Jefferson County, fund the Rotary International Youth Exchange program, academic and vocational scholarships, and support myriad local needs ranging from salmon rehabilitation projects, foster care support, Olympic Neighbors and senior programs, said Lois Sherwood, fundraising chair.

Sherwood described the modified event as a “win-win solution. Three people in our community will win cash prizes, and the club will be able to continue its service to our community.”

More information on the event and how to buy entries can be found on the Rotary’s Facebook page.
