FORKS — Quillayute Valley School District’s maintenance and operations replacement levy was approved by more than 63 percent of voters, updated election results showed Thursday afternoon.
The levy needed a 60 percent “supermajority” to win.
According to the latest results, 1,548 ballots were submitted for the Quillayute Valley levy from both Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Of these, 985, 63.3 percent, were yes votes while 563, 36.6 percent, were no votes.
Schools Superintendent Frank Walter said he was pleasantly surprised by the election’s outcome.
Walter said he had assumed the next election update would be released on Friday as was announced earlier by the Clallam County auditor.
But the Auditor’s Office counted more ballots Thursday and released what appeared to be conclusive results.
Although slightly higher percentages of yes votes were totaled for the Port Angeles School District election on Thursday, a maintenance and operations levy and a separate technology levy were still far below the 60 percent plateau.
