PORT TOWNSEND — Friday’s death of a 5-week-old Quilcene girl is believe to have been the result of natural causes, Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney Juelie Dalzell said Monday.
The final cause is still pending, said Dalzell, but the death is being considered a case of sudden infant death syndrome.
“I don’t have any suspicion at all about the death,” said Dalzell.
She said no charges will be filed.
Chlo’e Marie Anderson was discovered comatose by her father, Rockne Anderson, at about 7 a.m. Friday in the family’s home.
When Jefferson County Fire District No. 2 (Quilcene) personnel arrived at the home on U.S. Highway 101, they were unable to detect any vital signs, but began efforts to resuscitate the baby.
The baby was quickly transported to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend, according to a statement from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Medical staff at the hospital pronounced her dead shortly after she arrived.
