PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Farmers Market is providing an opportunity for local chefs to show off their talent.
One such demonstration that is highlighting the events, which continue through next month, isn’t for the faint of heart and certainly not for the entomophobic (squeamish about bugs).
David George Gordon, who has appeared on national television and at events worldwide, will be preparing mealworm tempura, grasshopper kabobs and crickets with orzo pasta.
Visitors at the Sept. 13 Farmer’s Market on Madison Street downtown will get a chance to partake in the creations if they arrive at 10 a.m. A lucky few will get to help Gordon cook the protein-filled critters.
Other local chefs will soon be making entrees a little more accepted in Western culture.
