PORT TOWNSEND — An old-fashioned picnic with games and music, a community parade and fireworks highlight the Independence Day celebration Thursday at Fort Worden State Park.
Fort Worden is holding “Centennial Days” — the second of its centennial year celebrations this week — which combined with the traditional Jefferson Day Fourth of July picnic means a week of festivities.
The climax will be the Fourth of July picnic on the parade grounds Thursday afternoon followed by fireworks at the beach, starting at 9:45 p.m.
The picnic features classic games, relay races and a community parade, starting at 4 p.m.
