PORT LUDLOW — Federal and local fire investigators have pinpointed a car garaged beneath an Admiralty Condominiums fourplex as the source of a $1 million blaze that razed the building and damaged two others.
But the investigators are continuing their efforts to determine how the fire started early Thursday.
Three residents of the 30-year-old condos at The Resort At Port Ludlow escaped unharmed during the spectacular fire.
Evidence collected by Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue, the Jefferson County Fire Investigation Task Force and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms point to the charred car, a Ford Taurus, Port Ludlow Fire Chief Wayne Kier said.
Kier called in ATF because the early damage estimates exceeded $1 million.
Investigators have hesitated to call the fire arson-caused, although witness accounts characterize the origin as suspicious.
