DISCOVERY BAY — A Port Angeles woman was injured and airlifted to a Seattle hospital following a Thursday night wreck on Highway 20 near Fairmount Road in Jefferson County.
Robin J. Jensen, 53, was driving a 2016 BMW SUV in the wreck and transported to Harborview Medical Center.
Her condition was not immediately available.
The State Patrol reported that Mark E. Burkhardt, 44, of Port Angeles, was driving east on Highway 20 after 8 p.m. when he was distracted by lights from oncoming traffic. His Dodge Ram pickup truck drifted to the right and into a ditch near Fairmount Road.
Burkhardt overcorrected, veered back into the roadway and across the centerline, hitting Jensen’s BMW head-on, according to a State Patrol memo.
The State Patrol said Burkhardt was injured but not transported for treatment.
The roadway was fully blocked for about 2 hours.
The State Patrol reported that impairment did not play a role in the collision.
In the memo, State Patrol troopers said they expect to file charges for investigation of negligent driving in the second degree against Burkhardt.
