Port Angeles: Thrift store, possible arson victim, sets smoky fire sale

PORT ANGELES — “Smoky” is the new black when it comes to fashion this season.

Or at least this weekend, when smoke-infused clothes, shoes, dishes, furniture and more will be sold at discount prices by St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The “fire sale” happens Friday and Saturday at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, which was damaged in a suspected arson fire one week ago.

Store staff and volunteers are salvaging those items not ruined by the fire and marking down prices to clear out their supply.

The goods for sale aren’t smoke-damaged, but they are smoky, said Barbara Townsend, the St. Vincent de Paul board treasurer.

Anything wearable (clothes, shoes, purses and the like) will be sold for a dollar a bag, she said.

Everything else is 50 percent off.

The sale will be at the store, 112 E. Eighth St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
