PORT ANGELES — An unknown number of Port Angeles utility customers experienced about an hour and 15 minutes without electricity Thursday morning.
Interim City Light Operations Manager Terry Gossage said a failed connector between two wires “caused the system to come apart.”‘
Four of the system’s major customers experienced power outages, including Swain’s General Store, the post office, Quality Inn and Lee Apartments, he said.
The first calls about the outage were received about 9:30 a.m., Gossage said.
Power was restored about 10:45 a.m.
The failure of the connector could have been caused by corrosion or wind, he said.
“It’s just kind of a fact of life in an electrical system that this stuff happens,” he said.
