PORT ANGELES — A city committee is recommending the city release $100,000 in bed taxes being reserved for marketing the Oak Street hotel and conference center to promote tourism, including “Art on the Town.”
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee made the recommendation to the City Council on Thursday morning.
“Some new events this fall could use more marketing,” said committee member Bob Harbick, owner of Five Seasuns Bed & Breakfast.
Harbick said the events need to be built up this fall to make up for a slow spring. He noted events planned for October include History Weekend, Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival and the Strait Thunder Hydroplane Race.
