PORT ANGELES — Gray skies didn’t deter dozens of paddlers from hitting the water in Port Angeles Harbor for the third annual Kayak Symposium on Saturday.
Amid a sea of wetsuits, drysuits and colorful kayaks, paddlers from novice to advanced skill levels, from Western Washington to as far away as California, converged at Hollywood Beach and Red Lion Hotel to test-drive kayaks and hone their skills.
“We’ve been on the water,” Kelly Hinds, 58, of Anderson Island, said as she and Gayle Swanson, 56, both wearing paddling gear, surveyed the action on and off the beach.
“The hot tub is sounding good,” Swanson, of University Place, added.
