PORT ANGELES — More than 100 people turned out Monday morning at the Veterans Center on Francis Street to remember those who gave their lives in defense of freedom.
Keynote speaker Bill Ashley of Joyce said the day’s mission was two-fold — to never forget the sacrifices made by veterans and to ensure the nation never forgets.
“The bond we shared with our comrades in arms while on active duty remains strong and undeniable years and decades later,” the 21-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran said.
“I know of no other profession or vocation where that characteristic is so prevalent, and I am proud to be a member of this special fraternity.”
