PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man accused of sexually and physically abusing five children, the youngest of which was 9 years old, has pleaded not guilty to the nine charges filed against him in the case.
Michael Donald Stephens, 33, pleaded not guilty Friday in Clallam County Superior Court to four counts of second-degree rape of a child, one count of third-degree rape of a child, one count of third-degree child molestation, one count of second-degree attempted rape of a child, one count of second-degree child molestation and one count of fourth-degree assault.
Stephen is alleged to have abused five children ranging in age from 9 to 15.
A jury trial date for Stephens, who was being held in the Clallam County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, has been set for June 10.
Stephens is next scheduled to appear in court May 3.
Police said they investigated abuse reports March 30 and, upon interviewing the children involved, arrested Stephens later that evening at his home.
