Port Angeles man arrested for investigation of child-porn possession

PORT ANGELES — Formal charges are expected to be filed Friday against a Port Angeles man accused of possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Dwayne A. Marcum, 39, was arrested for investigation of the charge Monday and made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Marcum is being held in the Clallam County jail on $750,000 bond.

Port Angeles police said they received a report of child pornography that was found in the woods of west Port Angeles last Friday.

Police developed a suspect based on the items found.

Detectives conducted interviews and identified a specific victim.

According to the certification for probable cause, police arrested Marcum on an unrelated warrant outside his apartment at 2202 W. 16th St. shortly after noon Monday.

Police said they showed Marcum evidence they had found in the woods, including a photo of a flash drive and digital camera.

Police said Marcum told them the flash drive contained images of him molesting a child and then later said he has a split personality and doesn’t remember the incident.

He also told police he has tried to get rid of the flash drive, but it keeps reappearing with his belongings.

Police said the investigation is still active.

Anyone with information is asked to phone the Port Angeles Police Department at 360-452-4545.
