PORT ANGELES — A man awaiting trial for second-degree possession of stolen property and charges in another case of possession of stolen property was charged Tuesday in two separate cases with forgery.
In the most recent cases, Richard Allen Gatlin, 41, of Port Angeles is accused of counterfeiting $20 bills and giving them to two people who attempted to spend them at the R Corner Grocery at 256420 U.S. Highway 101 on Dec. 16 and Dec. 22, court documents say.
The serial numbers on the two bills were identical and both people told investigators they received the fake bills from Gatlin, court documents say.
He is being held in the Clallam County jail on $30,000 bail and will be arraigned Friday.
Gatlin was charged Nov. 21 with second-degree possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
