PORT ANGELES — Although it has rained on and off since Monday night, the general manager of the Red Lion Hotel is sticking to his promise to camp on the hotel roof to raise money and awareness of United Way of Clallam County.
Michael Luehrs has pledged to camp on the roof of the two-story waterfront hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., for up to a week, as long as daily fund-raising goals are met.
On Wednesday, $700 was raised to keep Luehrs on his waterfront perch until today.
To date, $2,750.32 has been raised since Luehrs began his camp out last Friday.
“I really didn’t think I would be staying up here another night,” Luehrs said Wednesday night — his sixth on the roof.
Today, $750 is needed to keep Luehrs on the roof.
