The Port Angeles School District board voted 4-1 Monday night to recommend that Fairview Elementary School remain a two-unit school — two classrooms per grade — if Monroe Elementary School is closed.
School board member Cindy Kelly, who voted earlier this month against closing Monroe, voted no on the Fairview measure.
The recommendation included that additional portable classrooms might be moved to the school.
Meanwhile, the board changed the date of a second public hearing on the proposed Monroe closure, to April 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Jefferson Elementary School. The date of the first meeting will remain April 6.
