PORT ANGELES — Longtime civic leader Dorothy Duncan is resigning from the School Board, ending a career in local politics of nearly a quarter-century.
Duncan, 67, who has been a member of the School Board for three years and is a former mayor, city councilwoman and county commissioner, submitted her letter of resignation Tuesday.
“It is better for me at this time to pass the position to someone else. There are things that Dennis and I would like to do,” she said, referring to her husband.
The School Board will meet in special session at 2 p.m. today to accept her resignation.
The meeting will be held in the Board Room of the Central Service Building, 216 E. Fourth St.
