PORT ANGELES — A projected $19,000 deficit in the city’s lodging tax fund lead the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee on Wednesday to recommend reduced tourism advertising in 2004.
The 2004 lodging tax budget now goes to the City Council for its consideration as part of the 2004 budget process. The city contracts with the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce for tourism promotion, including advertising.
The 2004 lodging tax budget includes $406,500 in projected lodging tax revenue and $3,500 in interest for a total of $410,000. Projected spending totals $410,137, including capital projects, special event funding, visitor center operations and advertising.
