PORT ANGELES — A four-piece band set up on the lawn of Ralph and Clara Carlson’s home played an appropriate tune Wednesday to mark the occasion.
While the strains of “Seventy-six Trombones” carried across the yard, Carlson, 100, tapped his hand to the beat.
And after the final note, his 96-year-old bride called from her chair on the deck, “Would you play it again?”
Though not exactly to the day, Wednesday’s party celebrated the Carlsons’ 76th wedding anniversary.
The couple married Aug. 18, 1927, in San Francisco.
