PORT ANGELES — Shane Park’s athletic fields will not be used this year, Deputy Recreation Director Bill Sterling told the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission at its meeting last week.
Even if the project to rehabilitate the athletic fields was already complete, a year still would be necessary for the seeding to get established, he said.
Sports programs will be moved to other fields, Sterling said.
City Public Works Director Glenn Cutler said the city is looking at alternatives that include the Dry Creek Elementary School fields, which the city has used before.
