PORT ANGELES — The City Council tonight will consider the first step in joining with Clallam Transit System over condemnation proceedings against a downtown business.
At issue is property needed for the proposed International Gateway Transportation Center bounded by Front and Lincoln streets and Railroad Avenue.
The property is now part of a private parking lot that the transit agency says it needs for the $6.5 million Gateway project.
Negotiations with the property owner over compensation for the parking lot, owned by Budget Rent-A-Car of Port Angeles, 111 E. Front St., have reportedly reached an impasse.
