PORT ANGELES — Police have completed their search of a Port Angeles home where a deadly shooting occurred Monday.
No arrests had been made or charges filed as of Wednesday.
Authorities remained tight-lipped about the shooting that killed Robert Fowler, 63, at a home at 211 E. Vashon Ave.
“The home is now back in the hands of the resident,” said Port Angeles Police Detective Cpl. Jason Viada.
Neighbors have confirmed that Fowler lived at 209 E. Vashon Ave., next door to the house where he was killed.
Viada would not release the names of the father and daughter who live in the house where the shooting occurred.
“Where we’re at now in the process is that we have a lot of evidence to catalog and to analyze,” Viada said.
“At least some of that analysis will occur at the Washington State Patrol crime lab.”
Police would not identify the suspected shooter because no charges have been filed.
“Where we’re going with this is that we will collect the facts, collect the evidence and provide a complete case report to the prosecutor,” Viada said.
“The prosecutor will then review the case and make a decision about whether or not to charge anyone with anything.”
Port Angeles Deputy Chief Brian Smith said he expects more information about the case to be made available today.
“There is a whole lot that goes on in these cases, and once somebody’s name gets out there, it can make our job a lot harder,” Smith said.
“There’s definitely a public interest in this case, no doubt, but this thing just happened two days ago.”
The death is being investigated as a homicide, but all deaths caused by another human are initially investigated as homicides, Smith has said.
Viada said the DNA analysis will occur at a crime lab in Marysville, and the fingerprints will be analyzed in Tumwater.
