PORT TOWNSEND — A man who served in the Pacific during World War II will tell his story tonight and Saturday on The Learning Channel’s presentation of “Hell in the Pacific.”
Sy M. Kahn wrote a 900-page diary during the war which remained untouched for 50 years.
At the encouragement of his family, the diary was published as a book entitled Between Tedium and Terror: A Soldier’s World War II Diary, 1943-45.
Kahn, 77, was interviewed in Port Townsend and in Los Angeles for the film after a producer read his diary.
“I have not seen the documentary yet, but I hear it is good,” Kahn said. “We are having a small group of people over to watch it.”
The program will be aired on The Learning Channel, which is Channel 20 in Port Angeles and Sequim, Channel 30 in Forks, Channel 25 in Clallam Bay-Sekiu, and Channel 27 in Port Townsend.
The program will air from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight and midnight to 2 a.m. Saturday.
