EchoStar Communications Corp., which operates the Dish Network satellite system popular on the North Olympic Peninsula, has black out MTV channels as part of a nationwide fee dispute with the music channel’s owner.
As many as 9 million satellite customers nationwide lost Viacom-owned cable networks, and 1.6 million of them also lost their local CBS station.
The Seattle CBS affiliate KIRO was operating on a Port Angeles home’s Dish system Tuesday night, but MTV and MTV2 were blacked out, a teenage viewer reported. Viacom also operates VH1, CMT and Spike TV channels, which were operating.
