Several North Olympic Peninsula projects will be funded now that Gov. Gary Locke has lifted a freeze on capital funding.
Locke released money for state construction projects Thursday in the hope that a state building boom will spur the economy stunned by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Among the projects reaping the benefits of Locke’s action is renovation of the former Lincoln School in Port Angeles as a Clallam County museum.
The Eighth Street landmark will receive all of its $83,500 restoration grant under the state Heritage Capital Program.
The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Jefferson County is also assured $97,500 to complete renovations of the Westrem Building at the Port Hadlock campus.
The Jefferson County Historical Society Museum will receive a $100,000 matching grant for full restoration of the Fire Bell Tower overlooking Port Townsend.
