Open house Friday will send off departing Port Townsend police chief

Port Townsend Police Chief Kristen Anderson will receive a public “sendoff”‘ sponsored by the officers and staff of her department Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Water Street police station.

The open house will “celebrate and honor Chief Anderson’s years of unsurpassed service and to give her a sendoff in the manner she deserves,” said a memo distributed among the Police Department staff.

After Friday, Anderson — Port Townsend police chief since 1999 — will go to the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children in Washington, D.C., where she will become supervisor of case analysis.

Deputy Chief Conner Daily will serve as interim chief of the department. City Manager David Timmons is garnering applicants for Anderson’s successor.
