BRINNON — An Independence, Mo., man has died in a wreck that sent two others to a Seattle hospital and blocked U.S. Highway 101 near Brinnon for three hours and 52 minutes..
Edward A, Avery, 29, died when he took a curve too fast and hit another car in the oncoming lane of traffic as he traveled southbound on U.S. Highway 101 just north of Shop Road near Brinnon at 6:43 p.m. Friday, the State Patrol said.
He was traveling at a high rate of speed and was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said in a memo.
Krystal M. Campbell, 48, of Vancouver, Wash., and her passenger, Jerri A. Sell, 41, of Copalis Beach, were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The two were traveling northbound on Highway 101 when Avery crossed into their lane and hit the left side of their vehicle.
Avery’s 1998 jeep came to rest in the southbound ditch while Campbell’s 2021 Jeep ended up; int he northbound ditch.
Campbell and Sell both were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck.
Both Jeeps were completely destroyed, the State Patrol said.
