SEQUIM — The North Olympic Peninsula’s largest Internet service provider returned online Tuesday, although e-mail service was “a little bit spotty” in the words of one OlyPen Inc. service representative.
“Everything seems like it’s getting ironed out, and everything should be resolved by tonight,” the spokesman said Tuesday afternoon.
OlyPen’s Web site, www.olypen.com, displayed a notice that the four-day backload of e-mail was slowing delivery and that OlyPen was adding more computer server capacity to help handle the flood.
“When the rush is over, we will provide an explanation and a course of corrective action to prevent this interruption of service from occurring again,” the Web page said.
A computer hacker paralyzed OlyPen at around 11 a.m. Friday, resulting in an almost four-day interruption of its domain, Web and e-mail services. Dial-up, cable, and DSL services were restored over the weekend.
Company statements Sunday blamed “a deliberate and malicious denial-of-service attack” for the shutdown.
